In the event an Airline/Aircraft operator determine that he/she will be arriving or departing from the territory outside of normal operating hours, the following procedure "MUST" be adhered to:

Take all additional action that s/he reasonably deems necessary to minimize the duration of any delayed opening.

The Director of Operations or the Duty Manager will contact and advise the relevant Government Department to ensure that their respective staff are duly notified and on duty to facilitate the arrival or departure.

The BVI Airports Authority reserves the right to refuse any such accommodation where the party seeking such has, without good cause, failed to comply with the procedures identified above.

Emergency Flights/Medevac Procedure

(Outside Normal Operating Hours)

The BVIAA recognizes the need to accommodate medical emergencies which operate outside the normal operational hours. In order to make the process transparent to the organizations or individuals making the request, the BVIAA has instituted the following procedures:


To ensure proper arrangements can be made by all organizations, thereby allowing for a smooth transition of the process.


In the event of an emergency that warrants medical evacuation at the Airports.

Responsible Person(s):

The organization or individual requesting the flight has the responsibility to notify BVIAA. It is then BVIAA's responsibility, having been notified, to seek to accommodate the request.

Execution of Procedure:

When an organization or Individual is making a request for Medivac Services, the following procedure must be followed:

Contact the Duty Manager at 496-9034-496-9190 and relay the following information:

  1. Arrival and Departure Airport(s) of the flight.
  2. Name and contact details of the company and registration number of the aircraft performing the flight.
  3. Name of the service provider - whether an individual or organization handling/ discharging the patient.
  4. Time of arrival and/or departure of the flight.

Please note that in some cases BVIAA may bill the applicant for services of the aerodrome.
